Prize Draw Freelander Goes to Wales « Back

Mr Robert Jones of Powys from Welshpool had a very successful Royal Norfolk Show after winning the most coveted prize of a brand new Freelander S.

The raffle which raised over £3000.00 was to help raise funds for the YANA Project, (You Are Not Alone) which aims to promote awareness of mental wellbeing and offer support and guidance to the services available. Committee members chose the charity as they were determined to raise the profile of depression and mental health. The agricultural community is among the high risk groups for depression.

The Freelander draw was also part of the very successful Wheatsheaf Ball, and the committee members worked extremely hard in the weeks running up to both Ball and Show to sell almost 2,000 tickets.

“A huge thank you must go to Hunters of Norwich who part sponsored the vehicle and Anglia Farmers, Norfolk YFC, NFU and Ben Burgess for helping to sell tickets,” said James Alston, committee member and Norfolk farmer.

The draw took place in the main ring of the Show with the winning ticket being drawn by Show President, Mr Henry Cator.

The winner, Robert, purchased his ticket at the Royal Norfolk Show Judges and Stewards dinner held on the 30th June.

After finding out that he won the new Freelander he said: “ I am a big fan of Landrover and I am particularly pleased as my prize could not have come at a better time, my current vehicle is on its last legs and definitely due for retirement!”

His partner, Jane Gittins was the Judge of the British Bleu du Main Sheep class, after judging on the Wednesday they returned home, but they will shortly be making another trip back to the county to collect their new shiny new blue Freelander S.
