| Machinery Ring Takes Off |
« Back |
The recently launched Eastern Machinery Ring (EMR) – the result of a merger between Eastern Agri-link Ltd and Norfolk & Waveney Machinery Ring – is already experiencing a significant increase in business.
Fourteen new members have joined EMR since it was officially launched at the Norfolk Machinery Show (NORMAC) in September and demand for services has stepped up.
The ring now covers 740 members in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.
Chairman Robert Alexander, who farms near Diss in Norfolk, said:
“Collaboration is key. If farmers are to ride out the massive cost increases in agricultural inputs, then we must knit together and minimise costs elsewhere.
“Through the merger we have spread our net which means EMR is providing economies of scale to the benefit of all involved. Working ‘farmer-to-farmer’ we are optimising the use of existing machinery and experienced labour in an efficient and cost-effective way.
“In fact, we’re already meeting members demands at a rate of more than 95%.”
